Has anyone done trial or rollout of 5G NSA with Huawei LTE eNB as anchor and 5G Ericsson gNB and vice versa?
Anyone have experience with 5G-NSA with multi-vendor?
We are considering Huawei 4G + Nokia 5G.
Is there any incompatibility there?

Can eNB and gNB be of different vendor in 5G NSA network?
Like LTE on Nokia and NR on Ericsson, both co-located?
This can be possible but we need to check first X2 interface interoperability between both of different nodes vendors.
As for NSA below two are must have requirements:
- ENDC support for eNB
- X2 interface between eNB and gNB.
Problem is some times RAN manufacturers keep X2 hard coded, proprietary.
But again the subject operator can play role for liasoning.
Not supported at this moment.
Inter vendor mobility is not supported.
No ENDC is supported between different vendors.
Neither handovers nor ENDC between inter vendor is supported between Nokia and Ericsson.
Handovers are supported between vendors but not sure about endc support between vendors.
It’s about 5G handovers, not LTE.
5G HOs are not supported.

Is it possible to have EN-DC between LTE eNodeB and 5G gNodeB of different vendors?
Have you ever seen such an experiement implemented and working?
Yes, İt is possible but vendors do not allow without license.
If operatör have buy the purchased license it will work by installing patch into the eNB and gNB software , as far as I remember license per site is around 12k USD.

Not tried, only discussed last year.
Due to license per site having high cost, operatör usually don’t accept it.
Which vendors was it?
On which side do we need SW upgrade?
Master or secondary node?
Both for Nokia and Huawei.
Without patch intervendor not working for basic LTE to LTE mobility also.
Our LTE site belonging to these 2 vendors are working together fine.
We have X2 interface between the 2 vendors and monility over X2 imterface is working as it should.
The issue is establishing X2 interface between Ericsson LTE and Huawei 5G which has not been possible so far.
We are trying to connect Ericsson LTE site to Huawei 5G.
What if our current software supports it?

Vendors are generally restricting it. Even Huawei.
Yes, but you can ask for test licence, for trial purpose.
Test and return. Most vendors support that.
License is required on both sides, right?
For sure.
License is not enough, you need patches on both sides.
