Driverless 5G-enabled vehicles. Is it a hype?

Workaround is: disable NR when VoLTE initiated.
This is for one vendor.

Yep, quite simple.

The current trend seems, NSA will be more supported by MNOs than SA.
Let’s wait and see.

Means, NR for data purpose only?

I don’t believe that all 5GC advantages like URLLC and mMTC will be postponed with SA and NSA will be kept longer.

The first gen of smartphones you are right, they are not SA capable.
As far as I understand, RAN/CN will be able to run NSA/SA simultaneously without much harm.
But to be fair, I have not much information about this.
It is more like a huntch.

World is keen to go to SA and Verizon is a good example of this.
They have even activated VoNR for SA cells that they have on air.

Only latency is important in V2X.
Amount of data being transferred is low.

Actually V2X needs an entire ecosystem.

A congestion free slice?

V2X ecosystem is far from being implemented and will cost a lot apart from few trials area, here and there.

Yes, I agree.

I guess some could be upgraded OTA ( some brands, some models) but do OEMs really want this? They would love to sell new SA phones not to upgrade old sold NSA ones.
Yet… not sure if SDAP layer could be easily implemented in current NSA phones !?
Also a 5G RRC layer?

Yes, as soon as the VoLTE is initiated NR PSCELL is released.
Other vendors have another approach: they keep both of them till UL SINR of VoLTE degrades and at that time they release the NR.
There are parameters and switches for those features.

Have to agree here. New phones is way better! :+1:
And there isn’t much to change I guess.
Technology will evolve, as handsets will.
Go for SDX60 or 65!
You’ll be happy !

Yes, I heard X60 will be released this winter then we shall see some handsets with it next year.

I think the market will follow normal.
The people know that the technology is developing rapidly and without NSA / SA transition the customers change the phones.

You may be right but changing smartphone sooner than 2-3 years (and forced by technology) will be something they will not forget easily about 5G.

:+1: we appreciate your business!
Mmore news to come…

It’s public: “Smartphones equipped with X60 baseband and RF system will be available in 2021.”
