Will there be a Telecom and ICT recession in 2023?

The problem is that in every country there are 3-4 MNOs.

They are like cannibals one for another. Too many MNOs.

That is free market.

More MNOs lower end user price.

For business it is not good too many MNOs.

They cannot survive competition.

Operational and Capex costs will kill small MNOs.

MVNOs can develop new business strategies like this one.

What happens once satellite communication kicks in?

True actually…

Satellite can target only customers in difficult terrain where there is no fiber connectivity.

I don’t think it can normally compete with fiber connectivity especially in uplink direction.

May be used to provide wifi services in flight or trains where normal operators are still struggling to provide stable network.

Anyone here using Starlink services for internet?

FWA will replace Starlink in next 5 years.

Replace  a bit exagaration as Starlink usage quite little comparing to FWA.

Starlink can target operators to provide high capacity backhaul connectivity to operators who intern can provide services to customers. That I guess will be successful.

Like mobile BTS in ships, trains or airplanes.

How if Starlink offers its services for free for five years?

Keep giving free internet across the globe till 80% of cellular operators are out of business.

How many cellular companies can survive in such a scenario?

How will it provide the same amount of Bachaul like what fiber or microwave provides?

Cellular communication is now all about cost. It’s a commodity.

Kill the competition is the rule of the game.

What’s the percentage of global cellular subscribers who switch based on quality?

How many subscribers are switching from 4G to 5G?

5G is a big failure all over the world.

Generally true, but there is a term QOS, latency.

Now applications demand more and more, the lower latency.

Cost is top tier reason to switch, agree. Quality is a concern in high markets.

It cannot provide that kind of backhaul capacity.

I don’t agree 5G is a failure.

It is just a matter of time for MNOs to monetize it.

Majority of population lives in India/Pakistan/China/BanglaDesh.

If some operator can capture this market, its enough.

It covers I think more than three quarters of world population.

The actual game is to capture their data and monetize it for e-commerce.

Like if you can use one currency over Starlink.

You can trade globally.

Connect Startlink with Amazon and Alibaba and it’s game over for cellular operators.

Satellite can never compete with Fiber connectivity.

Big data becomes more and more important, for goverments, security reason, many other things.

Speed and latency will become everything and people still say 5G is a failure?

How will you reach 2 Gbps with 4G?

Never say never

Yes, but look at the technical limitations.

How much latency do you expect in Satellite connectivity?
