Why we have different types of reference signals?
Why isn’t one type enough to know channel quality?
Each type of reference signal serves a specific purpose, such as channel estimation, synchronization, phase tracking, and interference management.
Techniques like beamforming and MIMO require detailed channel information, which can only be provided by specialized reference signals.
Like 5G we have 4 types of Reference Signals in DL.(DMRS , PTRS, Csi-RS …)

As mentioned, each one serves specific purpose, e.g. PTRS is newly introduced to cater for FR2, i.e. mmWave bands.
