Why transmission periodicity ms0p5 is smaller than UL and DL slots together in 5G TDD?

Hello 5G Experts.

I am trying to understand in 5G the following 5G TDD UL-DL config common. (tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationCommon)

My first question is related to pattern 1: why transmission periodicity ms0p5 is smaller than UL and DL slots together?

My second question is how will UE know when pattern1 or pattern 2 is used?

I found the answer:

If dl-UL-TransmissionPeriodicity-v1530 is configured, dl-UL-TransmissionPeriodicity is ignored.

Also those 2 patterns succeed one to another.
