Why 2100 and 900 are preferred bands in 3G?

Hi Experts,

I just want to know why 2100 and 900 are preferred bands in 3G?

2100 MHz provides high spectrum re-use allowing multiple BTS to be packed into a geographical location for capacity purposes.

900 has preference for its ability to allow network providers to provide good data network at distances that are out of coverage for higher frequency bands. Also lessens the cost in rural areas where it isn’t commercial viable to have a bts every 3to4km.

Most 3G networks operate in the 800 MHz, 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1,700 MHz, 1,900 MHz and 2,100 MHz bands.
