Loopback is a Way of troubleshooting and fault locating

Loopback is a stream of bits sent from specific port along the network path and return back on specific point ( depends on loopback type )

We have multiple types of loop

  1. Hardware loop ( done using fiber cable connection from Tx Port to Rx port )

Or copper cable

Hardware loop need site visit

  1. Software loop ( van be performed remotely Using NMS. )

NMS is network mangment system ( NFM-T in Nokia & NCE in Huawei for example )

  1. Facility loop : used to Test the path and Ports of the board

  2. Terminal loop : used to test the path and internal connection of the board

  3. Line side loop

  4. Client side loop
