What is the technical meaning of DL: 2 Layer and UL: 2 Layer?

Hi Experts

When we say DL:2 Layer and UL: 2 Layer what technically does that mean?

Mimo 2x2 in DL.

In Uplink I think there is no MIMO yet.

Some CPE already support 2 layers in UL.

We are working with CPE Casa Systems.

I was talking about smartphones, not CPE.

For battery saving purposes I believe there will not be UL MIMO soon on Smartpbones.
