What is use of capability req filter and applied freq band filter in NR UE capability enquiry message?
Capability req filter is used to ask UE to report only band combination related to request bands.
And not all bands.
This reduce UE capability size significantly and improves accessibility.
Is it mandatory to include freq band list filter IE?
No, not at all.
Reduces msg size and improves accessibility.
But if no failures in the network due to UE capability size then you won’t see any direct gains.
If this freq band filter IE not config then will UE report NR CA combo or not?
If it has bands listed then uecapenquiry will be based on specific listed bands in it.
If not then, it will be based on node config, any other external cell bands. In that case list may be longer.
Basically, bandfilter allows eNB to enquire only bands that are listed in it. No other additional bands.
