What is the main difference between filtering zone, computation zone and focus zone in Atoll?

Hi Atoll Experts.

What is the main difference between filtering zone, computation zone and focus zone?

And in which cases they are used?

One difference I know is if we draw a computation zone and run best server prediction for sites within it, the best server plot will also take into account the transmitters just outside the comp. zone.
But in filtering zone, all tx outside the zones are negated for calculation.
And focus zone is mainly for calculating stats and reports.

So if someone can explain in detail, it will be very helpful.

Hey you got the concept. Focus zone is always the area you are working on, the computation zone and filtering zone need to be bigger than the focus zone, else you will have wrong predictions near the border area of your zone (due to transmitters outside of the zone, being excluded and there for not contributing to the prediction)

  • Filtering Zone: the tool will take only those sites inside the filtered area and do calculation depending on their calculation raduis set on Transmitters table; the prediction or the the pathloss can go beyond the limit of your zone.

  • Calculation Zone: the toll will take all transmitters that can probably reach your delimited zone (from inside and outside) and finally the result will be only inside your zone.

  • Focus Zone: it is an area that u can use to do some KPIS calculation for example; u focus only on a small portion from the whole calculated prediction; no need to recalculate; draw a focus zone and do your statistics export.
