The Radio Intelligent Controller function introduced by O-RAN is working on drone use case to be managed by the RAN.
Through xApps.

Did you find any use-case where this MRFU (just a BTS-Radio) is housed in UAV/MAV for flight control?
A controller must also be found as MRFU is just a front-end unit. In that context, it can be used to extend the communication (Cellular, M2M and IoT etc.) which still requires a Satellite Backhaul.
But esp. to control the flight of a drone will be an overkilling effort.

Let me ask in different way, how the military drone can be controlled and move from location to another using the same cell phone network?
