Hello Experts.

What could be the reason for extremely low uplink speed in FTTH?

Several possible reasons:

  • Signal issues
  • Network congestion
  • Equipment configuration
  • Limitation on the service plan
  • Electromagnetic interference
  • Issues in the provider’s network
  • Final user equipment
  • Malicious software
  • Hardware limitations
  • Folds in the fiber

Also:

  • The number of the users against the package
  • Link distance to the customer
  • Signal should be between 18 to 20 dB
  • Take a speed test over a laptop, if the speed package 100 MB and the speed test show 70 MB this means link OK and speed package ok
  • Package rules from the operator
  • Modem itself

Electromagnetic interference? :open_mouth:

Also, check your device setting, any speed limitation?

It is less common, but electromagnetic interference can affect the electrical components that convert the optical signal in electrical signal.

FTTH issue mostly related to configuration changes at operator end.

How about DL speed?

Downlink is very good.

Receive level is good around -15 dBm.

Also:

  • Maybe wrong config from the Core side for UL AMBR.

I can see that you are testing using laptop. Certain applications that work in the background might be using uplink bandwidth without your knowledge. Try make speed test using mobile phone.
