UE layer spatial multiplexing in Uplink

Hi Experts.

I have a query on 3GPP UE category specs.

If we see before release 12 UE cat, we can find the layer spatial multiplexing in Uplink.

However release 12 onwards post decoupling of DL and UL, in Uplink there is nowhere mentioned about the UL layers, but we can find for DL.

Anyone knows if I missed something? Or it is not mentioned due to some reason?

For ref 3gpp 36.306 !

I think UL MIMO is available just for 5G UEs, very few of them, not for 4G UEs.

Even in 5G very few UEs support UL MIMO.

In 4G I think no UE supports UL MIMO.

And in 5G very few UE supports UL MIMO.

Yes, I have seen maximum 2 layers in Uplink at specific devices like wnc etc.

But if we think of UE in NR, there is possibility to support 64 QAM in Uplink as well at this scenario more than 1 layer in Uplink make sense as most of the 5G deployments are use case based.

Imagine of FWA CPE deployment.
