Split sectors vs 4x4 MIMO

Hello All.

If you have the option to choose between 2 projects implementation on 4G:

  • Split sectors - meaning a 3 sector sites becomes a dual beam 6 sectors site on each band
    Or
  • 4x4 MIMO on the 3 existing sectors of the 2 bands

Which one will bring a better gain?

This is better coverage / higher GB consumption and cost effective.

Yes in my opinion too: using spilt sector you will have a better coverage.

But the throughput will be lower in comparison with 4x4 MIMO.

It depends on your needs and UE penetration with MIMO4x4 support.
If everything is fine with coverage and your network has many UE with MIMO4x4 support it could be a good reason to go with that solution.

Here we have 6-8 Sector 4x4 Mimo with 3/4 Physical sectors but downside is heavy interference
