Points to check for Low DL/UL Throughput on PDCP layer from UE side in 5G SA case

Hi Experts.

What are the points we need to check for low DL/UL throughput on PDCP layer from UE side in 5G SA case?

Check for ingress.

Sorry, didn’t get it.

He means, if enough data is coming from higher layers in DL.

That would be SDAP layer.

Correct, check for incoming DL at higher layers.

Thanks all, but still I am getting confused.

When we say downlink Direction - means RLC will come before PDCP in UE protocol stack.

SDAP will come in picture after PDCP.

Nope.

He means at gnodeB side:
in DL first is SDAP layer;
Then PDCP layer;
Then RLC layer;
Then MAC layer;
Then PHY layer.

Correct… but I wanted to check from UE side.

But first you need to check at gNodeB side, usually this is where issue is.

UE is just recombining data what gnodeB sent.

Make sure you have parallel streams in DL otherwise you will not get high throughput.

Like speedtest or something similar.

Thanks You!

Is there any thing we should check on RLC layer in UE side?

If you want high throughput in DL you should check following: high MCS to be like 27, 4 MIMO layers, NR CA if available etc

Check first what rank indicator is reporting UE: 1,2,3 or 4?

Yes, but these are the stuffs comes on PHY.

  • Check slot allocation and PRB allocation from UE side
  • Check MCS allocation
  • Also, when you say low, how much low and what is allocated bandwith, and how many CSI port configured?

These are the parts of Downlink resource assignment and feedback from UE side to assist gNB for high resources assignment.

I am saying these all are up to the mark.

We wanted to know what are the options we can check on PDCP/RLC layer.

Is it UDP or TCP?

It is UDP.
