Hello NR experts,
Do most NR bands support 4Rx at the UE end and 2Rx at the gNB end?
Is it possible for the network to transmit 2Tx in DL? If so, how will the UE receive the signal with 4Rx?
Hello NR experts,

Is it possible for the network to transmit 2Tx in DL? If so, how will the UE receive the signal with 4Rx?
When the gNB transmits with 2Tx using 4 ports, 2 ports are utilized for transmit diversity.
With a single SSB, the UE can receive on 4 layers per band.
However, if the network transmits only 2Tx signals, how is the signal mapped at the UE end?
The network will always use a minimum of 4 transmit ports. The number of layers can be 1, 2, or 4.
Okay, thanks.
So, can we say that the UE can report RI = 4 with a single SSB, as long as the radio conditions are good across all 4Rx?
In this case, 2 SSBs are not required. Is there a specific parameter for this?
Based on our understanding, smart antennas at the gNB have antenna elements with built-in radios. How is the mapping done for 4 transmit ports at the network side?
