Below are the needed steps to establish NSA 5G Connection in Sequence, along with the dependencies

  1. LTE paging - This is optional and will depend on MME Paging Policies, LTE coverage and LTE parameter settings.

  2. LTE RRC Connection - LTE Admission Control, LTE Radio Condition.

  3. NR PDCP and DRB is setup on LTE cell - HSS Subscription settings and LTE Radio conditions.

  4. UE Measures Good 5G Coverage - LTE Parameter settings and 5G Coverage.

  5. SgNB Addition - 5gNB, 5G Admission Control.

  6. UE Gets Info on 5G Radio Configuration through LTE RRC Connection Reconfiguration - LTE Radio conditions.

  7. User Plane setup on 5G(SN Transfer and ERB Modify) - 4G eNB, 5G gNB, EPC

  8. 5G RACH Process complete - 5G Coverage.
