Hi Experts,
How many layers max in uplink for NR?
How many UE can come in pairing with MU-MIMO in NR?
Is it 8 or 4 UEs?

Max 4 per UE.
Huawei has 8 PUSCH layers in UL for MU-MIMO.
So 4 UE paired in UL for MU-MIMO.

I have a very similar question; to my understanding the number of layers is dependent on the number of DMRS ports allocated. And that’s because, you can not perform channel estimation between layers unless the pilots are orthogonal among them, which is assured by the DMRS antenna ports allocated to each user.

Hence, since, as per 3GPP TS 38.211 Table 6.4.1.1.3-5, there can be up to 12 DMRS antenna ports (double DMRS symbol / dmrsType = 2), can’t we conclude that the maximum number of layers on PUSCH is 12?
