MAC layer no longer asking more data from RLC layer

Hi All,

Getting low throughput. After debugging observation is like: MAC layer is not asking more data from RLC layer.

But on the basis of above can RLC also take that much data only from data PDCP layer?

Anyone know this?

This mean cell is congested and there might be lack of PRBs or CCEs.

I would ask also if CA is enabled and if MU-MIMO is enabled too.

If both are enabled is very unlikely for cell to be congested.

Yes I agree.

But again depend on how many total UEs in cell, where are they located, how many CA UEs, how many paired UEs average etc.

No, my question is what about RLC layer:

Will RLC ask to PDCP layer only data that is being requested by MAC?

No, RLC can have more data than what MAC is asking.

Thanks. Any Specs reference?

RLC have buffer to store unscheduled data.

I don’t have any reference as of now.

Then what is use of PDCP buffer? Is it only buffer for retransmission?

Also, I believe RLC have buffer for retransmission too… Correct me if I’m wrong…

What I know is it also maintains a buffer for crypto-related things.

But that could be internal implementation of PDCP.

it will be used during HO or RLC reestablishment.

PDCP and RLC are independent buffers with different reasons.
