How does MIMO implementation? and What is looks like on antenna system?

  1. Technically, MIMO technology located on Radio Access Network (RAN) and formed by Hardware & Parameter system.

  2. MIMO Hardware System:

    • Antennas which support MIMO scheme. Quick samples for googling reference (Commscope CVV65CSX 6P Ant, Ace Tech SXPWL5H-16(19)-65(33)-iVT 10P Ant)
    • RRU (Radio Remote Unit), Radio Remote Head (RRH)

  3. MIMO Parameter system

    • Transmission Mode ™ settings had to defined properly on BTS level
    • Transmission Mode is a configuration that determines the transmission mode for eNB antenna in Air Interface
    • As of now, there are 10 different transmission mode (TM1 ~ TM10) defined in 3GPP specification

  4. What is MIMO wiring looks like on Antenna System?
