Is it possible 8 SSB beams for 3:6 GHz?

Hi All.

For 5G FR1, is there any network deployed 8 SSB beams as of now?

As max seen 2 SSB beams only.

Huawei has 8 SSB beams in FR1.

Nokia 6 beams.

8 means 7_1. One sector beam right?

See here, from @Jaeku_Ryu’s Sharetechnote: 5G | ShareTechnote

As per device end mostly UE are 4 RX so 2 SSB can be used by single UE, i.e rank 4.

For 6 beam it’s like 3 UEs.

But you asked about SSB beams not about PDSCH beams.

In Huawei PDCCH and SSB beams are static, PDSCH beams are dynamic.

Yes, SSB beams as PDSCH beam only for Huawei as of now.

I understand that Nokia will have MU-MIMO from release 22R2. Finally.

Looking for insights on how Layers, SSB beams, and MIMO are related.

I was reviewing this conversation but couldn’t fully understand the mapping between these concepts.

Could someone please check the post and explain how they are mapped? I’d really appreciate the help!

First of all, do you differentiate between PDSCH beams and SSB beams?

I’m also confused about this topic, especially when it comes to beams.

If you have any recommended reading materials to help understand it better, please share.

“5G in Bullets” is the best book for understanding beams, as it includes clear sketches and drawings.
