In LTE, if Bandwidth class for CA is defined as C, than how many Max CC can be aggregated?

Dear Experts.

In LTE, if Bandwidth class for CA is defined as C, than how many Max CC can be aggregated?

Admin note: this post was updated with image below.

Aggregated CC depend on ATBC

Aggregated Transmission Bandwidth Configuration (ATBC): total number of aggregated physical resource blocks (PRB)

  • Class A: ATBC ≤ 100, maximum number of CC = 1

  • Class B: ATBC ≤ 100, maximum number of CC = 2

  • Class C: 100 < ATBC ≤ 200, maximum number of CC = 2

Thanks!

Is this CA Class configurable parameter or is it getting auto configured from NW Side?

Configurable parameter for HWI sides but, without these ATBC rules, can’t work efficient.

For example you can activate 3CC and 3CCEXT parameters but will not aggregated efficiently

Ok got it, thanks.

I was checking in Samsung eNB System and it configured as BW Class C.

Apple team is carrying out device testing and They are not getting 3 CC CA on field rather they gets 2 CC CA ( TDD+TDD).

I checked and found that we have 2 TDD Carrier of 20 Mhz Each so total aggregated BW is 200 PRB if we combine these 2 Carrier.

For example, if your ATBC > 200 PRB but still not allow to aggregate > 3 CC need to check backhaul allowed CC number under cell basis CA configuration
Relaxed Backhaul Ca Max Component Carrier Number = 2CC
Distribute Cloud BB CA Max Component Carrier Number = 2CC

1 + 1 2CA

BW : 20 + 20 MHz

As per 36.101:
