Hello Experts,
Can anyone explain the impact of DSS (Dynamic Spectrum Sharing) in 5G on 4G networks?
Hello Experts,
Can anyone explain the impact of DSS (Dynamic Spectrum Sharing) in 5G on 4G networks?
From a DSS (Dynamic Spectrum Sharing) point of view, does the UE (User Equipment) need to be aware that DSS is enabled (i.e., does the modem in the UE need to detect it), or is it solely a factor managed on the network side?
I am referring to the impact on user experience - specifically, what percentage of resources should be reserved for 5G signaling in a DSS-enabled network?
Ah, ok. This is a separate question from my side and is not related to your question. (But also in this subject)
DSS is dynamic, and resources are calculated in every TTI. 100% of PRBs are shared, with each share being dynamically determined in each TTI.
Yes, this will be based on the MRDC_Capability message.
For example, if we activate NR dedicated on a frequency band versus DSS 5G, some percentage of resources will still be used for 4G overhead signaling, even if there are no active 4G users.
Yes, there will still be 4G overhead present.
I would like to evaluate this overhead - would it be around 5% of resources or more?
Do you have any insights on this?
5G UE yes
4G UE no
It depends on the DSS implementation. Which vendor are you referring to?
