How to improve radio bearer usage on LTE Downlink?

In Huawei you can query the PDSCH configuration using this command: LST PDSCHCFG

Use command MOD PDSCHCFG to modify the cell reference signal power, in order to modify the RSRP.

By changing the reference signal power, you are also modifying the power on the downlink data channel.

The following aspects need to be taken in consideration when modifying the reference signal power:

  1. Coverage: If the value of ReferenceSignalPwr is too large, cross-coverage occurs. This causes interference to other cells. If the value of ReferenceSignalPwr is too small, coverage holes appear.

  2. Interference: The setting of ReferenceSignalPwr varies with the interference from neighboring cells. A large interference margin is required where the interference is strong.

  3. Channel estimation: A larger value of ReferenceSignalPwr leads to higher channel estimation accuracy, a lower demodulation threshold, and higher receiver sensitivity, but it causes stronger interference to neighboring cells.

  4. Capacity: A larger value of ReferenceSignalPwr brings better coverage, but a large value limits the power used for the transmission of data and hence decreases the system capacity.

Set ReferenceSignalPwr appropriately to ensure a reasonable tradeoff between coverage and capacity, effective channel estimation, and appropriate interference control.

In order to change the power over the resource elements of data traffic, for increasing the throughput, you need to use command MOD CELLALGOSWITCH, the parameter DlPcAlgoSwitch - Downlink power control algorithm switch , EDlMaxTXPwrSwitch.

With this switch activated, the the maximum TX power of the cell can be increased to improve the Radio bearer usage in the cell.

EDlMaxTXPwrSwitch: Indicates the switch for enhanced maximum TX power of the cell. If this switch is turned off, the maximum TX power of the cell is determined by the reference signal (RS) power and the scaling factor indexes Pa and Pb. If this switch is turned on, the maximum TX power of the cell can be increased to improve the RB usage in the cell. This switch has no impact on the TDD 20M, TDD 15HMz and 10M cell.

Thanks so much

Hi dear, we active EDlMaxTXPwrSwitch on L2600 cells as RRU working as single mode but for some cells they be down when we acrive, do you know whats the reason?
