Feasibility of CA Between L900 5MHz & L1800 20MHz

Hi everyone.

Is Carrier Aggregation (CA) possible between L900 5MHz and L1800 20MHz?

B8_B9 … I think no.

It is B3 + B8.

I think it is applicable.

I think it’s possible. In our network, we have CA with B8, B3, and B1, but the difference is that we have 10 MHz on B8.

In theory, it’s possible, but it depends largely on the smartphones you have in your market.

Generally, UEs support one low band and one high band (your scenario), or two high bands (ideally) for CA. But now it’s becoming more common for them to support CA with two low bands. I’ve already successfully tested CA with B5 (5 MHz) + B28 (20 MHz).

I think the best thing (in these cases where you have 20 MHz + 5 MHz) is to unilaterally configure the CA so that the band with the highest BW is always primary. For this, depending on your vendor, you configure the CA Candidates only from one side.

As an additional note, I used this page to see the existing CA tests with different devices: https://cacombos.com/

This is a clear Yes.

This is CA 3A-8A which was introduced with 3GPP release 11.3. Even old LTE handsets with most basic CA features should support this combination.

Refer to CA Bands at Sqimway for details.
