Factory Reset of SIU 02 with Lost Admin Password

Hello,
how can i factory reset an SIU 02 with a lost admin password?
I tried the TSU 02 reset (resetall/topsecret ) but the SIU must be different
Thanks for any help with this.

Hi, @svinson, did you try resettofactorysettings? Or you can not connect to it?

This command resets the configuration of the unit to default factory settings. MIB content is erased and persistent data including security, synchronization and ISP data is cleared. Software archives are not affected by this command.

The admin password was changed from the default hidden and is unknown so no cli access

can anyone that has the SIU 02 alx ( i don’t have this alx) take a look and see if it gives a method to factory default the SIU with an unknown admin password. the TCU 02 alx shows a way to do it on that device:

3.2.1.1 [Password Recovery]

To reset the admin password to its default value in case it is lost, use the steps below:

Note:
For security reasons, all configuration and logs will be removed by this procedure.

  1. Enter the following data:
    telnet 192.168.1.1
    username: resetall
    password: topsecret

Thank you for any help!,

Hi, @svinson, there is another way to reset TCU, but it is for blocked LMT port:

5.3.3 Override Procedure of Disabled Local Console Port
If the local console port has been disabled it is possible to regain access even when it is not possible to access the unit from OSS.

This procedure is meant to be used as an emergency procedure if, for some reason, it is not possible to control the unit remotely from OSS while the local console port is disabled.

Note:
The override procedure will reset the configuration to factory default settings, meaning the MIB content is erased and persistent data including security and synchronization data is cleared. Software archives are not affected.

To perform the override procedure (reset to factory defaults) of disabled local console port, do the following:

Connect an Ethernet cable from a Local Maintenance Terminal (LMT) to the LMT port. No login prompt should appear as the local console port is disabled.
Disconnect/reconnect the Ethernet cable from/to the local console port 2 times.
When the Ethernet cable has been connected 3 times (including the connection in step 1) within 20 seconds, the unit will restart and then the local console port will be open for logging on during 2 minutes.

Note:
The Ethernet cable needs to be connected to the equipment in both ends and the Link status indicator must be lit before disconnecting the cable. As a rule of thumb, let each cable be in connected or disconnected state for at least two seconds to be certain that the link status is detected.

Log on to the CLI using Telnet/SSH.
Note:
If no successful login has been done within the 2 minutes time window the unit will restart and the local console port will be disabled again.

When a successful login has been done within the 2 minutes time window (see step 2) the configuration will be reset to factory default settings and then the unit restarts. A reconfiguration is then needed to include the unit in the network and provide its services again.

And it is for TCU.

yea, I think this works in the SIU also, but it’s only to enable the LMT port if it was disabled in the config. I have looked over the TCU and SIU firmware images and I see the resetall user the TCU passwd but not in the SIU. it only has admin and root, and root is set to * in the shadow password file so no login. I’m starting to think there might not be a recovery method for the SIU but without access to alx manual I can’t be sure. thank you for the reply!
