Example of RI/CQI/PMI report from UE in 5G

For CSI port configuration you look into NZP.
No Zp.

Csi-im are with zero power.
In the codebook you should see n1-n2 like 4-2.
Then csi-rs ports are n1xn2x2 i.e. 4x2x2 = 16.
Search for codebook in the logfile.
And you will see antenna “more than two” and then four-two.
Or two-two.
Or four-one.
And so on.

Number of csi-rs ports you can get them from 2 places like I highlighted in this picture:

So it is p8 or 2x2x2 = 8.
This is valid for any log in 5G.
nzp stands for non-zero power.

From above, can i say that i have only 1 NZP-CSI-RS of 8 port? and remaining 4 are TRS?
Basically TRS will always have 1 port.

Search for nzp with nrofports greater than 4.
The one in the picture is not the right one.
In your picture it says nrofports:p1 that means one port.
One port means no beamforming at all.
Impossible to be that one.
Search for nzp with nrofports greater than 4.

Resource Set ID 0 is with 8 port. And resource Set ID 1,2,3 and with 1 port.

Thats 1 port CRS is TRS.

I have not seen this in picture. You may be right. :+1:
Then csi-rs ports = 8.

Yes… that is TRS.

Yeah i have not pasted whole picture, only pasted resource Set IDs.

This is CSI-RS for TRS, not for refine beams.

But I can’t see p8.

Yes those 4.
1, 2, 3 and 4 are for TRS.

Maybe you see p8.
Or p16.
Or p12.
Or p24 or p32.

Right, this is the one.

This is P8.

Same info you will get in codebook twotwo
Meaning 2 x 2 x 2 = 8 ports.

So can I say that I have NZP CSI-RS with 8 port, but this 8 port doesn’t mean 8 CSI-RS beam, is this correct?

You can say you have 8 csi-rs ports.

And 4 TRS with 1 port each.

Please confirm this.

I wish I know the answer to this question, but I don’t know.
8 csi-rs ports means 8 logical antenna ports.
Each logical antenna port will be connected to 4 or 8 or 16 real antenna elements.
