Hi everyone,
I’m working on configuring Carrier Aggregation on an Ericsson LTE network and have a specific scenario I’d like to implement. I would appreciate any insights or confirmation from those who have experience with similar setups.
Current Working Configuration:
-
PCell: L1800, Band 3, EARFCN 1600
-
SCells:
-
L2100, Band 1, EARFCN 200
-
L900, Band 8, EARFCN 3750
-
This inter-band CA (Band 3 + Band 1 + Band 8) is currently active and functioning correctly.
Desired Configuration:
I want to add a new L1800 carrier (Band 3, EARFCN 1350) to the same site and aggregate it with the existing setup. The goal is to have the PCell aggregate with both:
-
Intra-band CA: The new L1800 carrier (EARFCN 1350) on the same Band 3 as the PCell.
-
Inter-band CA: The existing L2100 (Band 1) and L900 (Band 8) carriers.
The Core Question:
Is it possible in Ericsson LTE to have a PCell simultaneously engaged in both intra-band (non-contiguous) and inter-band Carrier Aggregation?
In other words, can a UE be connected with a configuration where the PCell (EARFCN 1600) has three SCells:
-
SCell 1 (Intra-band): EARFCN 1350 (Band 3)
-
SCell 2 (Inter-band): EARFCN 200 (Band 1)
-
SCell 3 (Inter-band): EARFCN 3750 (Band 8)
I’m particularly interested in:
-
Any known hardware or software limitations on Ericsson equipment for this.
-
If this is a standard 3GPP band combination (CA_3C-1A-8A?).
-
Any specific feature licenses or parameter settings in Ericsson systems that are crucial for this multi-band, multi-carrier scenario.
Thanks in advance for your help
