Does we have same UL high gain when using AAU (compared to high gain from DL gain)?

Dears,

For smart antenna 5G AAU, we have a high gain in DL like 27 dBi or even 30 dBi.
But do we have the same high gain in UL?

I mean, at transmission all antenna elements are adjusting their phase to have a high gain in DL.
But in reception, in Uplink at gNodeB, would that be possible?

Just think about it: a specific user in uplink is transmitting on few RBs and on few symbols.
Would gNodeB be able to adjust phases for all its antenna in Uplink to receive signal from that UE with a high gain?
