Does UE indicate its capability for VoNR support?

Hi Experts,
Does UE indicate its capability for VoNR support?

Yes, it has to.

Can you please share the IE name?

Hi,

As 4G, if network support VoLTE it will indicates network capability to UE in SIB first. Then during attach request, UE will send whether its support IMS-voice and supported codec mode like below picture.
I think 5G VoNR also the same behavior.

Yes UE will indicate VoNR capability.

As per 38.306, see below

4.2.13 IMS Parameters

voiceOverNR
Indicates whether the UE supports IMS voice over NR. It is mandated to the UE if the UE is capable of IMS voice over NR. Otherwise, the UE does not include this field. If this field is included and the UE is capable of E-UTRA with EPC, the UE shall support IMS voice over E-UTRA via EPC.

If this IE missing in UE capability logs, but call is going through NR cell as VoNR, wht does it significance whether DUT sw support vonr or not ?

Yes, the UE (User Equipment) does indicate its capability for VoNR (Voice over New Radio) support. This is done through the UE Capability Information message, which is sent by the UE to the network during the RRC (Radio Resource Control) connection establishment process.

The UE Capability Information message includes a field called “voiceOverNR”, which indicates whether the UE supports VoNR. If this field is set to true, the UE supports VoNR. If this field is set to false, the UE does not support VoNR.

The network uses the information in the UE Capability Information message to determine whether the UE can be used for VoNR calls. If the UE does not support VoNR, the network will not allow the UE to make or receive VoNR calls.
