Does new RAN Vendors have future?

massive MIMO without MU-MIMO is as good as normal MIMO, i.e. SU-MIMO there.

I do not agree:
massive MIMO has a much higher gain than 4x4 MIMO.
So SINR is much better.
Accordingly capacity and throughput is increased.

Are you guys talking about DL MU MIMO only, right?

In 5G as we have antenna elements > 8 so its massive mimo solution.
I find no impact on SINR even worse with it it’s shown good in theory only.
In practice, it’s different.

Yes, because in Uplink there’s no massive MIMO, sometimes not even 2x2 MIMO.

On this case service will be limited by UL link budget.

Yes, but Uplink is usually carried by LTE.

And it is DL that matters for Throughput.

If SINR become better by massive MIMO solution, then operator think only for it.
Just see world wide, how many networks favouring massive MIMO.

Ok. I’m talking about SA.

In SA and NSA indeed Uplink is limiting the link budget.

Actually do you know a 5G Network that does not use massive MIMO?
I think all of them do.
massive MIMO even deployed in 4G now.

For me MMIMO refers to at least 20+ antenna elements.
For Sub6 i dont think ive seen implemented yet, at least here with Verizon and ATT (commercially).
In lab they have all sort of stuff.

For DSS of course it is not, but for 3.5GHz it is implemented.

BTW: speeds on my 5G here are great, because network is unloaded, but call retainability sucks.

We call massive MIMO if AE >8.
Yes, in 4G as well massive MIMO. Now, have you seen any benefits like Throughput gain?
First we need to seggregate massive MIMO types.
i.e. SU-MIMO and MU-MIMO.
In 5G yes, massive MIMO there always, but it’s SU-MIMO.
For MU-MIMO algorithm different.

I also have logs in n78 where there is only one beam, beam 0, for all of a large drivetest.
Vendor Nokia.
Wondering if they use massive MIMO or not?

With Nokia I’ve seen max 8 beams, but for testing purposes.
Otherwise Beam_D:0.

It’s with 192 AE solution for FR1, so massive MIMO only.

But then, why only beam 0 serving?
How come no other SSBs only SSB0?

Maybe SSB beam set only configured with single beam.
We can go upto 8 SSB beam, but parameter controlled.
