Can the network operator have network slice in their network with same SST value?

Hello Experts.

Can the network operator have network slice in their network with same SST value?

I mean I have 1 PLMN and 2 Slice in it.

16777271: SST:1 , SD:000001
33554431: SST:1, SD:FFFFFF

Is this combination allowed?

Yes, it is possible for a network operator to have multiple network slices with the same Service Type (SST) value within their network.

Network slicing is a key concept in 5G networks where the network infrastructure is divided into multiple virtual networks, each tailored to specific requirements such as latency, bandwidth, security, and reliability.

The SST value is part of the network slice instance information and is used to identify and differentiate between different network slices. However, multiple network slices can have the same SST value, especially if they serve similar types of services or have similar characteristics.

Having multiple slices with the same SST value allows the network operator to customize services and resources for different customers, applications, or use cases while maintaining a structured and efficient network architecture.

Each slice can have its own specific requirements and configurations, even if they share the same SST value.

Hi Bro, the value for SD=FFFFFF is like having no SD … So in your case you have 2 slices, <sst=1,sd=1> and sst=1.
SD is a slice diferentiator with a range defined per 3GPP, you may go to 3GPP and find the file where that is specified.
