They are not mutually exclusive. You can have SA with DSS

Yes but We cant have actual use cases of 5G with DSS

DSS means that LTE still dominates the mobile RAN network, 5G can only use the LTE’s redundant spectrums and new 5G spectrum bands. With the trend of 5G replacing 4G, whose frequency spectrums will be re-farmed for 5G, we finally completely go for 5G.

5G SA has faster latency as you are not anchoring over 4G core, and also with SA you can use all those many fancy new features that are allowed by 5G core (network slicing for example).
