That’s a wonderful paper. From my perspective, this article presents an innovative and highly relevant contribution to the ongoing discussions on 5G and 6G technological systems, particularly regarding low-cost and scalable solutions for intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRSs). By proposing inkjet-printed, paper-based metasurfaces for millimeter-wave and sub-terahertz applications, the study not only addresses the practical challenges of non-line-of-sight connectivity but also aligns with broader trends in democratizing access to advanced wireless infrastructures. I find the work especially compelling because it illustrates how material simplicity and design ingenuity can overcome cost, energy, and complexity barriers that have traditionally limited IRS adoption, thereby opening opportunities for wider diffusion of knowledge and technologies across both industrial and societal domains.
