5G has made real-time tracking a reality.
This didn’t happen overnight.
The 3GPP roadmap made it possible, step by step.
Let me walk you through it:
- Release 9 introduced basic GPS for emergencies.
- Releases 13–14 improved indoor tracking with LTE.
- Release 16 brought multi-cell accuracy in 5G.
- Release 17 unlocked drones and AR applications.
- Releases 18–19 added AI for predictive precision.
Why does this matter?
Because industries rely on this precision every day.
I’ve to mention this.
5G positioning is NOT perfect yet.
Some challenges still need solutions, like urban accuracy.
But the progress is incredible.
And it’s going to improve in the future.
