5G FWA: Big promise, real-world limits

5G FWA is powerful and promising.

But it’s far from perfect.

There’s a lot of buzz around 5G Fixed Wireless Access.
And for good reason.

Still, I’ve got a few concerns worth sharing.

But first, here’s what 5G FWA means:

:arrow_right: It stands for Fixed Wireless Access using 5G.
:arrow_right: It delivers broadband without cables.
:arrow_right: It’s fast. Sometimes faster than fiber.

So yes
:x: You don’t need trenches, wires, or months of setup.

And the benefits?
They’re hard to ignore.

:white_check_mark: It brings high-speed internet to remote places.
:white_check_mark: It scales quickly as demand grows.
:white_check_mark: It saves money on infrastructure.

That’s the promise.
But here’s the reality check.

:red_circle: Coverage is patchy in some regions.
:red_circle: Quality varies by provider and deployment.
:red_circle: Spectrum availability affects everything.

So no - it’s not a one-size-fits-all fix.
But for many, it’s a real and working alternative to fiber.

5G FWA looks like the future.

But it still lives in the present.

Give it time, and it just might become the new normal.

Thanks for reading.
