5G Cell Types: How 5G Cells work together?

5G cells are not just ordinary towers.

They don’t work alone…

Each one plays a role in keeping us connected.

Let me explain how it works.

Master Cell Group (MCG) is the starting point.

  • It’s the first connection for your device.

Then there’s the Secondary Cell Group (SCG).

  • It helps the MCG manage traffic.

As per 3GPP, there are 4 types of 5G cells.

Primary Cell (PCell)

  • It’s always active and maintains your connection.

Primary Secondary Cell (PSCell)

  • It bridges 4G and 5G during dual connectivity.

Secondary Cell (SCell)

  • SCell adds bandwidth for extra capacity.

Special Cell (SpCell)

  • SpCell manages priority signals within the SCG.

5G works because every part has a purpose.

It isn’t just about one cell doing it all.

It’s about every part working together flawlessly.

Thanks for reading.
