Maintenance Window
A scheduled time period for performing upgrades, maintenance, or repairs on network components such as microwave links, optical systems, or IP networks. It should be planned in advance and scheduled during low-traffic hours to minimize service disruption. -
RMA (Return Material Authorization)
The process of returning faulty hardware (e.g., network cards) to the supplier and requesting a replacement. If an identical replacement is unavailable, a substitute must be chosen with matching technical specifications, such as frequency, wavelength, data rate, and supported protocols. -
CR (Change Request)
A formal request to modify the network, including maintenance or configuration changes that may impact traffic. CRs require approval before implementation, and once the changes are completed, network alarms must be checked to ensure stability before closing the request. -
TACACS (Terminal Access Controller Access-Control System)
A server used for AAA (Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting) to manage network access securely. AAA ensures proper identity verification, user permissions, and activity tracking. -
MoP (Method of Procedure)
A detailed step-by-step document outlining the procedures for performing network maintenance, upgrades, installations, or troubleshooting. MoPs help ensure tasks are executed systematically and with minimal risk.
