Dear Experts.
Any NW after 3G shutdown where VoLTE calls are not being IRAT/SRVCC to 2G and kept on VoLTE, if yes, what were the Impacts?
Practically what would be the best scenario?
2G voice traffic increases and VoLTE needs to be optmised.
2G we have seen 30-40% increase with TRX addition.
Do you mean you have disabled iRAT/SRVCC towards 2G?
In case disabled, yes after 3G shutdown.
In case disabled intentionally, will cause mute call issues at cell edge.
Can be miserable for subscriber point of view.
UL Link Budget is very much limited in case of VoLTE calls.
Hello Experts,
What are the prerequisites for a 3G shutdown, specifically to ensure smooth transition of 3G traffic to VoLTE, aside from considerations related to the device ecosystem?
Are there any specific parameters that need to be adjusted during execution? Additionally, what are the major KPIs to monitor during the process?
The mobile devices must support VoLTE (certified by the company).
Adjust the mobility strategy (both connected and idle modes) to prioritize LTE and minimize Inter-RAT handovers or SRVCC.
There isn’t just one parameter to modify; you could adjust the B1 threshold or B2 threshold along with the hysteresis to delay SRVCC. This is especially relevant for VoLTE calls and MBB (Mobile Broadband) mobility strategies, as mentioned earlier.
Key KPIs to monitor would likely include SRVCC success rates and Inter-RAT handovers.
There might be additional considerations I’ve overlooked, but I’ll review them in more detail tomorrow.
There are many factors to consider, brother.
