What is the difference between RRC noncriticalextension and criticalextension?

Hi All,
I am new to this forum, and I am honored to introduce myself:
I am Khalid Waleed, telecom RF engineer, and I am now studing the RRC protocol in LTE.

My first question is:
What is the difference between RRC noncriticalextension and criticalextension?
I have already googled it, but not get clear of it.
Kindly if anyone interested let’s start discussing.

Thanks

Critical means if the reciever does not support this extension, it triggers an error

Non Critical means if the reciever does not support, it just ignores

thnaks O.B ,
but it depends on what , UE capability or RRC 3GPP release ?

Newer extensions are added with every 3GPP release. For critical extensions, transmitter has to confirm reciever supports it before sending so for DL critical extensions, enodeb has to check ue capability first
