What does bits per symbol mean?

Hello Experts.

When we say QPSK will have 2 bits per symbol, what does that exactly means?

Let’s say if UE wanted to send a text “Hello”. How that text gets converted to bit’s or how that info transfer OTA in GRID?

Bits per symbol roughly means how much data you can push through.
For example if you look at LTE resource block, each Resource Element would carry one symbol. This symbol can be representing 1,2,4,8 bits (depending on modulation).
Converting text into signal is entirely different storyline.
