In a 5G Standalone (SA) site, under which configuration object is the Tracking Area Code (TAC) defined?

The Tracking Area Code (TAC) configuration in a 5G Standalone (SA) network depends on the vendor implementation. Below is a general overview of where TAC is typically configured for major vendors:

  • Huawei:
    The TAC is usually configured in the GNBTRACKINGAREA object, which is then associated with the NRCELL.
  • Ericsson:
    The TAC can be found under the NRCellCU configuration or within the TerminatingPLMN logic.
  • Nokia:
    The TAC is commonly defined within the NRCell or NRCellGroup configuration parameters.

These objects link the cell to its corresponding Tracking Area, enabling proper mobility management and tracking area updates in the 5G core network.

I couldn’t find it under NRCell. I will check NRCellGroup.

In NRCell, the parameter is not named TAC directly. Instead, it is referenced through the parameter trackingAreaDN.
