LTE RACH SR formula

Very expensive.

That’s a lot!

It is not like this anymore. But at that time you make a lot of profit with a GSM site 666 TRX that is fully loaded with traffic and customer is charged by minute.
You must remember year of 2000 when an alcatel one touch easy was 1200 usd and you were charged with 1-2 dollars per minute on your gsm subscription.
Now is not like this anymore thanks to competition.
MNOs don’t make money anymore so easy.
At that time a RNO engineer was paid with 1500 usd per day. And they were spending years on projects at that rate.

Lots of dramatic changes in the last two decades.

Yes, but is ok.
We should all adapt to change.
Change is the only constant in our life.

In next two years may be no telecom after we start to get broadband from sattelites.

Are there any actual ongoing efforts into this?

Wisdom of the day!

I think internet giants like Google, Amazon, Facebook and Microsoft will purchase a larger and larger pie of MNOs. Slowly will dominate telecom soon.
Same for Oracle.
I don’t trust satellite internet cause they cannot solve uplink due to high power.

Check this here: When (not if) Telecom Giants will become Cloud Giants?

Yes, exactly.

Fact is that people need 20 Mbps max.
There’s no app that requires more than this.
And they get this now.
So people are happy it is just that this GBR is nto granted everywhere.
People get 1 Gbpsec here and 200 Kbps there, and this upsets them, as they don’t need such discrepancies.
They just want 20 Mbpsec everywhere and they don’t get it everywhere.
This is where MNO should focus: Offering a GBR rate to any user.
Then they would be happy to pay more for a GBR service.
I have a 2 Euro/month subscription.
Unlimited 3G 4G and 5G.
Unlimited national calls and SMS.
1000 minutes international calls per month.
What more do i need for 2 Euro/month?
Competition is fierce those days.
Not sure all MNOs will survive in coming years…

Cell radius mainly depends on 3 parameters: Preamble Format, Ncs, Special subframe configuration (TDD only).
Huawei does not define the Ncs value explicitly unlike other OEM ( for eg Samsung), instead it defines cell radius in the system.

  1. Larger the cell radius larger is the value of Ncs. Hence more no of Root sequences are needed to generate 64 Preambles per cell
  2. Using more no of RS in each cell will reduce the re- use pattern of of RS. There are 838 RS in total.
So, we have to take of these above two points when defining cell radius.

+Cyclic prefix also decide cell radius.

We simply cannot change the cell radius.
Yes, CP is included in the preamble format.

CP for RACH and CP for slot are different thing.
I am talking about CP for slot/subframe.

As per my knowledge, the CP in subframe or slot is for handling inter symbol interference. NCP = 4.69 micro sec can handle a path difference of ~1.4 KM. Can you share the formula for calculating cell radius from this type of CP

Below is the formula for calculating cell radius from RACH CP:

Cell Radius= (CP - Delay Spread) x Speed of light / 2

I don’t think CP (subframe or Slot) has any role in determining cell radius.
For e.g. CP is fixed (NCP is 4.69 micro sec), we can’t modify CP when increase or decrease cell radius (may be from 5 km to 14 km).

The logic of adding CP is to eliminate ISI as you mentioned and length of CP will depend on delay spread.
Higher the delay spread higher the CP length and delay spread should be proportional to cell radius.

Can you share the formula?

Sorry I don’t have the exact formula, I just described the understanding.

Correct.
That’s the only reason to have extended CP - to increase cell radius.

Hi Dear @RFSpecialist.
Do you have a technical support about this value?
I want to use it but I need a support. I mean, how to explain 20 Mbps, why not 18 Mbps, why not 22 Mbps?
