Ever wondered why a VoLTE call sounds crystal clear… even when the network is busy? ![]()

The answer is not better signal strength.
It’s because VoLTE traffic gets VIP treatment inside the LTE network.
While internet traffic uses the Default Bearer, VoLTE voice packets travel through a Dedicated Bearer with QCI 1, ensuring:
Highest priority
Guaranteed Bit Rate (GBR)
Low latency
Low packet loss
Better MOS and voice quality
Without proper Dedicated Bearer and QCI 1 configuration, users may experience:
Choppy voice
Packet loss
Robotic audio
One-way audio
Poor call experience
In Day 5 of my VoLTE Series, I break down:
Dedicated Bearer vs Default Bearer
Why QCI 1 is used for VoLTE
QoS and GBR concepts
KPI impact on MOS and RTP packet loss
Optimization actions engineers should verify
Remember:
Signal strength alone does not guarantee voice quality.
Proper QoS configuration does.
