And these are not supported.
Then the network side is closed: capability, SAPI, radio priority, QoS, PDP update and PFC are all correct, and the PCU received a complete capability set. Nothing left to check on the core, the BSC or the eNB.
Two things to do, in this order:
- Repeat the exact test with a different phone model, ideally a different chipset vendor. If it pushes data after the cell change, the first phone’s firmware is the cause; log it against that model and raise it with the handset vendor, no network change.
- If the second phone fails the same way, borrow one handset with a modem log (QXDM or the equivalent) for a single run, and post the Packet Channel Requests and the PCU’s answers from the ten seconds after the last Modify PDP Context Accept. That is the only evidence that still separates phone from PCU.
Those three are normal and irrelevant. EGPRS2-A/B is the Rel-7 higher-order modulation almost no handset supports, and enhanced DTM only matters for a CS call with concurrent data; the PCU simply falls back to EGPRS/GPRS. The fields that matter for a TBF are the GPRS/EGPRS multislot class and EGPRS (8PSK) support, and those are present since the capability is complete.
Just trying to understand MS radio Access Capabilty,is the capabilities supported by SGSN?
No. The MS Radio Access Capability is the phone describing itself: which GSM bands it supports, its GPRS and EGPRS multislot classes, 8PSK support, and the optional features like EGPRS2 and DTM.
The SGSN does not support or enforce any of it; it just stores what the MS sent in the Attach or RAU Request and forwards it to the BSS in the DL-UNITDATA header so the PCU knows what kind of TBF it may assign this MS. The consumer is the PCU. That is why the check was “is the IE complete”, not “does the SGSN support it”: a truncated capability would make the PCU assign wrongly, a complete one means the PCU had what it needed. Yours is complete, so that path is closed.
That bit is the phone declaring it cannot do a PS handover (TS 43.129), which means even a network that offered PS handover to GERAN could not use it with this handset; it would fall back to exactly the cell change order plus RAU path your trace shows. GAN PS handover is the old Wi-Fi/UMA variant and is irrelevant here. Neither bit has any bearing on whether the MS transmits on SAPI 11 after the RAU. Nothing in the capability changes the verdict: network closed, phone next.
Thank you so much for your time and patience to explain what is going on. I will inform how eventually the issue got fixed. Once again thank you so much.
