What are typical parameters of 5G AAU (Active Antenna Unit)?

Hello experts.

What are typical parameters of 5G AAU (Active Antenna Unit)?

Here you have few parameters of a typical 5G AAU (Active Antenna Unit) with massive MIMO beamforming. Also called TRP (Transmission Reception Point).

  • Gain is about 24 dBi that is much higher than 17 dBi of a traditional antenna ( due to beamforming).

  • Horizontal Grade of Beams is -60° to +60° (so 120° compared to 65° of a traditional antenna).

  • Vertical Grade of Beams -15° to +15° (so 30° compared to 7° of a traditional antenna).

  • Horizontal 3dB beamwidth of one beam is about 13°.

  • Vertical 3dB beamwidth of one beam is about 6.5°.

  • Front to back ratio higher than 30 dB.

  • Mechanical downtilt span of -20° to +20° (depending if the downtilt supporting arm is mounted on the upper or lower part of the antenna).

  • Antenna made from 192 elements.

A diagram of antenna is in the picture bellow.

In red is the diagram of one beam; in blue is the pattern of all grid of beams in both horizontal and vertical plane.
