How to detect External Interference while doing Drive Test?

#1

Tg Ayomide Shobola (Nigeria):
Good day Engineers,
Can someone pls help with the suggestion on detection of External Interference while doing drive test on 900 and 1800 LTE band.
Customer experience is bad.

Tg Syabani (Malaysia):
Is it high UL RSSI?

Tg Ayomide Shobola (Nigeria):
RSSI doesn’t indicate either UL or DL
But the value is -80.81dbm

Tg Syabani (Malaysia):
U mean interference toward BTS or UE?

Tg Ayomide Shobola (Nigeria):
After Optimization, I was able to achieve RSSI of -70.68

Tg Ayomide Shobola (Nigeria):
Interference toward UE
Since it’s external interference, I believe it affect the two

Tg Syabani (Malaysia):
Only certain area or all over?

Tg Ayomide Shobola (Nigeria):
Certain area

Tg Syabani (Malaysia):
Your value seem like ul rssi to me because thats the one we always look at

Tg Syabani (Malaysia):
Try to get performance ul rssi stats

Tg Ayomide Shobola (Nigeria):
how

Tg Syabani (Malaysia):
Can see whether it is always high or only at certain time

Tg Syabani (Malaysia):
High ul rssi can be many sectors

Tg Ayomide Shobola (Nigeria):
Can the UL RSSI stat be detected while drive testing?

Tg Syabani (Malaysia):
Some i can think of is increase of traffic, poor cable installation, and also external device

Tg Syabani (Malaysia):
And No, UL RSSI can only be collected on BTS side, that means from moshell if its ericcson
To detect external interferEnce you need a scanner…
You might be able to proof there is exernal device inyerference, but to locate where the device, is very very difficult

Tg Syabani (Malaysia):
That value from DT is DL RSSI?
-70 dbm is of course better than -80

Tg Ayomide Shobola (Nigeria):
Yes
Can BLER show interference?

Tg Zeggari Nabil (Nigeria):
I think you have to use scanner as pctel with tems investigation or use spectrum analyser to detect external interference, the best one use spectrum analyser

Tg Yaseen Al-Zuraiqi, (Yemen):
Do you have CDMA2000 carriers (operators)?
CDMA2000 may cause external interference on EGSM band

Tg Ayomide Shobola (Nigeria):
The LTE bands are 900 and 1800
I don’t think CDMA has its bands

Tg Yaseen Al-Zuraiqi, (Yemen):
CDMA2000 licenced in 800 bands may effect on 900 Mhz bands

Tg Ayomide Shobola (Nigeria):
OK
No CDMA network in Nigeria, Just 2G, 3G and LTE with 700MHz and co

Tg Yaseen Al-Zuraiqi, (Yemen):
Ok sorry
What about jammers…?
Does your customers live near a military area or governmental buildings or anything like that?

Tg Sanurianto Nuri (Indonesia):
Can you give me the details of network condition like number RSRP and RS SNR?

Tg Ayomide Shobola (Nigeria):
After optimization has been completed, RSRP value is -96dbm and SINR 3db
